The Malaysian International Dance Championship 2009 (Open To The World) cum 2nd Leg of Asian Open Dance Tour 2009 will be staged at the Arena Of Stars, Genting Highlands on 27-28 February 2009.
Also culminating in the Championship will be the 5th A & C Malaysia Ballroom Dancing Open Championship, 6th A & C Hip Hop Open Championship, 1st A & C Line Dancing Open Championship and 1st A & C Belly Dancing Open Championship.
On 27 February 2009, the Competition will commence at 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, Gala Dinner will be served at 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm and the Grand Final will begin at 8.00 pm to 11.30 pm.
The Championship will feature Latin and Standard Ballroom Dance Competition. Endorsed by the World Dance Council (WDC) and Asian Dance Council (ADC), the Championship is expected to attract over 300 foreign couples from countries like Australia, America, England, Germany, Italy, Russia, New Zealand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, India, Slovenia and Denmark.
Host country, Malaysia will encourage participation nationwide, with competitors ranging from the age of 3 years to 80 years, who will compete in different categories.
The Highlight will be the Grand Final where the World Top 12 couples will be competing in the Professional Standard Open and Professional Latin Open. It will definitely be an Eye-Opener for some fantastic and awesome performances. There will be an attractive total Prize Money of USD100,000 (One hundred thousand US Dollar) for the Championship in different categories.
On 28 February 2009, the Competition will be under Hip Hop Categories. But the Highlight will be the Inter-School Team Match competition. Each school will be represented by a Team, comprising 8-20 pax, competing in a 4-minute Dance Routine, which can be one type of Ballroom Dancing or a medley of a variety of Ballroom Dancing.
